IMTS 2012 Wrap-up

Posted by Webby , in Events 21 September 2012 · 2,459 views

IMTS Tradeshow 2012
IMTS 2012 Wrap-up IMTS is the largest manufacturing technology show in America. More than 100,000 attendees passed through the show to see some of the latest manufacturing innovations first-hand.

In-House Solutions was there representing Robotmaster and could be found in the North Building. Robotmaster was also running on four robots across the show floor; a waterjet cutting demo in a Genesis Automation cell with a Kuka robot, a Kuka robot cutting mini Kuka robots out of aluminum, a Motoman robot performing a deburring operation on a milled part and a Fanuc cell cutting a blade in the CNC Software booth.

Robotmaster garnered a lot of interest for a number of its applications. The Kuka demo for example demonstrated that robots are much more capable of milling metal than they might be perceived to be. Their use for secondary operations such as deburring, roughing or finishing can also free up time on your CNC machine. There were also a lot of questions about its welding capabilities and waterjet applications. More information can be found at www.robotmaster.com or by emailing robotmaster@inhousesolutions.com.

Taking a walk around the show floor revealed monstrous booths towering like 2 story buildings. One of the most impressive booths belonged to Mazak – the pictures just don’t do it justice. The busiest machine tool booths were Mazak, Mori/DMG, Doosan and Haas.

It is great to see initiatives like the Student Skills Center drawing in youth and making the connection between daily life and the world of manufacturing through highlights such as the video teasers from The Edge Factor Show. Over 9,000 visitors passed through the 27 student-focused exhibitors (source).

If you weren't able to make it to IMTS, here’s a taste in the form of a Shop Talk video produced by IMTS organizers, summarizing some highlights seen in the Advanced Manufacturing Center.
