update new look
Hello everyone! It has been a while since this blog has been updated, not for a lack of things going on behind the scenes! (AKA you should be hearing a lot more in this space in the coming months!)

Today, as you may have noticed, we have received a slightly new look across the various community areas. Nothing major, just some tweaks and refinements to improve consistency etc. In case you barely noticed, here's a comparison between the old a updated looks:

In these screenshots, note the better use of space by bringing the member menu down a bit in the top right. We also docked the search bar back on the menu where it originally was. This is just the top of the forums. As you make your way around the site you'll notice this "tighter" theme has propagated to the downloads section, store, photo gallery etc.

As per usual, updates can come with their quirks. Some of you reported an error when trying to post a new message or reply. In case you're experiencing this, there's a topic started in the forum, including a suggested fix here.

Another tiny update that actually happened a few weeks ago was introducing fURLs which simply means the browser links to various site sections no longer look like gibberish. Now you'll see things like www.emastercam.com/board/store/ in your browser's address bar rather than the string of characters that used to be there. This is not only makes links more readable to humans but it also helps search engines understand what a particular section / post is really about.

I hope you'll notice a few of the other subtle differences as well but in case you don't, I'll be posting more about them in the weeks to come. So what do you think; a move in the right direction? Let us know in the comments below or if you're reading this in the forums, reply there!
