peck drill post error

Recommended Posts

My lathe post creates the following for peck drilling. Peck depth is supposed to be 0.05". Any suggestions on what to fix in the post?

(And, is it possible to get the subsequent rapid to stop just before the last drill depth, without writting a custom drill cycle?)

Looks like, it's likely that your control def is set to not support peck drilling and/or, your post doesn't support a G83 function if that's what you were expecting to see.

Go into your control def...machine cycles....lathe drill cycles and see if Peck Drill Full retract is checked.

If it is not, check it, you may get a customize drill cycle message then, if you do, your post will need editing to support eh G83 cycle

The control is certainly setup for longhand peck drilling. Since it is, you will need to use the mastercam defined drill cycle parameters (first peck, subsequent peck, peck clearance, etc). Even if these values are greyed out, they may effect your output. As grammin mentioned if you are looking for a canned cycle, you will need to enable that option in your control def and then modify the post to match your desired output.
