high speed machining

i want to use 2d high speed machining but i am not sure wheather it is gud fore all types of machining or not, moreover i dnt have any idea how to set the parameters for high speed machining. can anyone help me regarding this?

I would say it depends on several things such as, tooling, fixturing, material and machine.  There are a lot of great success stories of people using HS toolpaths and Chris's data base is a great place to get some speeds and feeds from.
