Parameter for Multiaxis Toolpaths other than "Classic"

Recommended Posts

I'm modifying a post processor to suit an Okuma MU500VA-II with a P300 control. I want to switch on TCP for the 5 axis toolpaths, but I'm not sure of a parameter (or a variable) that would indicate a 5 axis toolpath.

For the classic toolpaths it is a fine, because there is a predefined variable (I believe opcode worked fine for the classic toolpaths). I've got the post working nicely, aside from when I use any of the newer toolpath in surface/solid or from the toolbox.

Does anyone know of a parameter or variable for X6/X7 posts that basically says "hey, I'm either in 5 axis mode or I'm not" ?

:)

You will need to create a parameter read function to capture parameter number 15583.

15583 will hold a string with the name of the toolpath.

I created two Advanced Multiaxis Toolpaths, one was a Morph between two curves, the other was Parallel cuts. When I posted and checked that parameter, here was the output:

 15583 Morph between 2 curves
 15583 Parallel cuts

Once you've loaded the string to a user-defined string variable, you can use the "strstr" function to compare the string value in your user-defined string variable to another string to find a match. We can talk about that in an Office Hours class...
