Jagged motion in surfacing pass

Well you are getting exactly what you wanted. The higher(looser the tolerance) the number the less jagged the toolpath is going to be. The smaller(tighter the tolerance) the number then the surfacing is going to try to stick very close to it. Try going to opposite direction and kick it up to .002 and see if that yields the results you are after.

Have you tried the smooth settings: Shift points randomly and Minimize number of points? If that doesn't work I usually switch to the older Scallop toolpath or depending on part geometry try a different toolpath all together. Sometimes you just can't get ride of the jagged tool motion with this path.

I also might create a new surface and see if that does it.

Sometimes the underlying tolerance of the created geometry is just not good, can happen for several reasons but if this is the issue, there's not much you can do to repair the issue as it was created during the design phase and if then saved out as a different file, when the conversion happened it "could" have been compounded even further......

If none of the above suggestions work, creating a new surface may be the way to go

Thanks for all the tips guys. I have gotten to something more acceptable. I think most of the problem is due to the fact I am comming up against vertical walls.

Yes vertical walls cause a lot of issues especially with the older tool paths. We always put pressure on our mold designers to have draft on all walls even if it doesn't require it just to help with surfacing toolpaths.

p.s. hope the acquisition of Race Face by Fox doesn't affect your employment or the great products you guys make.

It won't affect my role with them. I haven't done work for them in over a year.
