Clipping Planes in Verify, X8

I'm learning X8  Verify and trying everything out.  It has Clipping Planes (xy, xz, yz) so the part can be cut to see a section.  The help says the plane (a gray square) can be dragged, but its not working for me.   Any tips?

Make sure you put your cursor on the edge of the plane in order to move it. You might have to zoom out to reach the border edge.

Just curious. In which version did clipping planes come back? Most of us are running V6 with two other guys running V7. The sad thing is we are on maintenance but don't update like I think we should. I remember clipping planes a while back. What version did it go away in? I always thought it was a good feature.
