wire edm path for an involute spline

i have never wire cut an involute spline and am attempting it with the gear.dll c-hook. i have attached two pictures, one that has the print data for the spline and one with the information that i entered into the gear c-hook. let me know if you think this is correct.

You need to set your root diameter to the "base dia ref" dimension. Basically, your spline tooth should look twice as tall as it shows. A 12/24 spline is cut as a full-tooth spline (24/24) but then either turned or bored to a special diameter--the "minor dia" dimension on your chart.

That's the thing about gears is that you should only need the DP, Number of teeth and Pressure angle but they always seem modified. I inputted every number you show on Esprit and can send it to you if you send me your email addy.

Did you draw in the pins and check across the pins? Since it in an odd will have to use a tri-mic if testing with a mic, but for drawing put in 3 pins and then make a circle using tangent to 3 circles and you will be able to check your shape PD.

When I inputted values it gave me a different meas over the pins by about .005 so I inputted his desired meas given on print.

 

I wire gears from time to time but prefer to have the mating part when I do.

We hob external splines day in and day out but for internal we always send them out to get broached.

You don't want to do that--the "space width max actual" is the max tooth size.

 

Try it like I have shown below. Then, draw a circle equal to your minor diameter and trim anything that violates it.

got it Del, and i compared your version, cathedrals version and mine. the greatest variation was between Del's and Cathedrals which was approx .0011-.0006. mine fell pretty much in between the two.  i really appreciate all your help guys
