Kidding :harhar: , I know how much that ruffles feathers around here..

Anyway,

We are looking to purchase a post for our new MORI-SEIKI NLX2500SY.  We tried out a temp but i'm not a fan of it since that temp required a DLL, CP6, ACC, PST, and PSB file. I'm not too knowledgeable on why the CP6, ACC and DLL were required, but I know I couldn't update them with the mcam update wizard.

I've been apart of a purchase a couple times before and the only files needed were the PST and PSB.

Since mcam is releasing new versions more frequently, we need something that we can update and make small modifications ourself.

Let me know your thoughts, or point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Yes, I tested a CIMCO post. I'd be all for building one from scratch, if I knew which default file to start with. I've done one for HAAS 3 and 4 axis, as well as a 3axis mori-seiki, and Okuma, and a 4axis toshiba.

However; it's always been a bunch of small tweaks. I'm still relatively new with editing posts. I haven't quite figured out how to create Machine+Control def files, nor have I had the time to learn. It would just be more efficient for this company to purchase one this time.

We also just don't want to be locked into a post that we can't even update with mcams update wizard...

There are a few reasons why CIMCO posts are created that way...

They have a modular construction that allow them to tweak tons of things externally... outside the binned portion...

CP6, if memory serves me, is the CFG source... They basically write a post kernel with thousands of possibilities and turn them on/off in CP6... Lots of small things for specific situations or requirements...

Example: One customer using Heidenhain controls wants the tilted plane function using CYCL 19 and another PLANE SPATIAL... a tweak in CP6 does all the magic...

DLL is because they can do a few things MP cannot do natively or are not best approached by MP (Like specific cycles and motions from specific controllers) - It also interfaces the extras with MP/MC + allow CIMCO to use their own licensing system.

ACC, if I´m not wrong is the license code...

mplmaster from In House Solutions is an excellent starting point.  It's not for the Mill-Turn package, but it will work for single path control.  I think your configuration is a dual spindle, single turret, Y axis machine, correct?  If it is this is the post for you, no encryption either, and it's free.
