Arc output problem

Using X9, Mpmaster, operation type Helix bore (see attached mcx file)

I'm getting different values on I J and (in this case) X, when the tool is doing last pass at final depth. See below:

Anyone know why and can advice please?

PS: It's not about a workaround to this specific example (like changing tool size so its rad will get rounded at a 4th decimal or something else). I'm more into, why it this happen and how it can be fixed please.

you're also getting differences on

X-2.5312 vs X-2.5313

I'd just call it rounding error. ...as long as the control doesn't freak out it should be fine.

I know..that's why I said I,J, and X. ...and it's not fine at all. The code should be consistent regardless of situation, and it is not.

Any suggestion?

Change the NC precision in your control def from .0001 to .00001

Sorry JP, but you're wrong.  I'm worry about it and for 2 reasons:

1. Code should be spotless up to the last 0.0001 regarding on situation. You cannot just sweep a problem under the carpet.

2. On some controllers because this type of rounding you can scrap the part. I'm always check my Sinumerik post for this type of errors

So what is your NC Precision set to?

The sample file you attached to your post is using a default machine definition "5 axis table head vertical".

The default NC Precision for this control definition is the .0001" as I recomended; and I see no rounding issue when posting operation #2.

Your picture shows an NC precision of .00001" 10 millionths of an inch.

The NC precision is intended to be set to the least increment the machine will take; Mills, lathes are always .0001" 1 ten thousands of an inch.

 

From the help menu of the NC Precision setting:

NC precision

Motion tolerance. This is used in the post to determine the precision of the machine tool. It should be equal to the smallest linear step distance on the machine tool. Use the Truncate option to control whether values are truncated or rounded.

The value of this field sets the mtol post variable. 

 

So try setting the value to .0001" and see what you get.

Ron, can you post both ops pls?

 

I think I figured out your problem. You are trying to use a Metric machine definition to post inch output. The tolerance for inch is different than metric and the difference is I used an inch machine and control definition to post inch out not a metric machine and control definition. When I use the metric I get what you are getting which I would expect due to rounding errors. Switch over to the inch machine and control definition and I think you troubles will go away.

 

Here are both, One your way using Metric for inch output and the other your file using an inch MMD and MCD.

That was the 1st operation that you had ghosted my 1st posting was your 2nd operation. If you compare the code you can see the differences. Once is for the one hole you had in the front operation and the other is for the 2 holes you had in the top operation. Again both were posted using an Inch Machine and Control Definition and I didn't get the difference in J you were getting. Replace the machine in the operations manager and re-post and I think you problems will go away. I never do what you are doing here. If I am working in Metric I use a Metric Machine and Control definition. If I am working in Inch I use an Inch Machine and Control definition. Sorry it has taken this long for anyone to find what is your problem, but I truly believe this is what you have been fighting with the whole time. I am trying to point you in the right direction here not diminish it. This was not a Mastercam error this was using the wrong file for the wrong units.

Using X9, Mpmaster, operation type Helix bore (see attached mcx file)

I'm getting different values on I J and (in this case) X, when the tool is doing last pass at final depth. See below:

Anyone know why and can advice please?

PS: It's not about a workaround to this specific example (like changing tool size so its rad will get rounded at a 4th decimal or something else). I'm more into, why it this happen and how it can be fixed please.
