  1. I actually think this might be a Machine Definition issue within the Machine Component Manager for the rotary axis. I believe the setting to control this is the Continuous Axis Type, then either Signed Direction, absolute angle(0-360 deg.) or Shortest direction, absolute angle(0-360 deg.) Again, I think this is correct. I hope it helps. Seth
  2. On a serious note, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me... Wouldn't one want to see what type of discussion enhancement ideas prompt? When someone brings up an enhancement request, I would think that we, as Mcam users, would like to see how many others use this the same way or have the same request. If the enhancement requests are moved, removed, or hidden, that doesn't really help those of us that might have good questions and/or resquests. I can understand the effort to cut through the bs that can come up, but I would think that would be cut down to a minimum by either responding and/or forwarding the good requests on. Just one guy's opinion...
  3. My bad... I didn't see another forum that fit my question. Is there an "enhancements forum"? I didn't see that either...
  4. As the versions have advanced, the level manager became more and more usable and organizable. I am wondering if there are any enhancements in the future for the View Manager? I sometimes end up with as many as ten or fifteen views for a part, and then I've got any tooling and/or offset views added on top of those. Other than the "Display only views associated with the selected view", which is about as useless as you know what on a boar... I see that we can now expand the view manager, and I guess that is a start, but we really need some options for organization within the view manager in my opinion. So, that brings me to my previous question... Are there any organizational enhancements coming for the view manager that anyone is aware of?? Seth
  5. Yes, "use tool step, peck, and coolant" is on, but it is only on using the v9 settings. I got it to do a global change, finding and replacing the script for line #11 on all of the over 2000 tools in the library, it was a very odd number variable... I get it to pull in with x-style coolant switches correctly on, but there is still a warning that comes up, even though the settings and machine definition seem to be set correctly... I'll keep working on it, as we will not move onto x5 until our library is fully updated. thanks for the thoughts. Seth
  6. I am trying to upgrade our Mastercam version from X4 MU3 to X5 MU1. We have two main tool libraries, one of which is for a cell, so it is imperative that the percentages, tool descriptions, coolant, lengths, etc. are correct. Everything updated correctly when I updated the folder, but I cannot update the coolant switches globally. How should I go about changing the coolant switches to, for instance, Flood-on/with, Thru-Tool-on/after? I need them changed for all tools. I have tried to convert the library to text and change all of the coolant switches, but I am not well versed with that, so I am just fumbling... Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Seth
  7. The issue is usually in your video card settings in conjunction with your screen settings within the config file. All computer setups are a little different, so you might have to make some settings changes before you get the right mix. Sometimes you might also have to run Mastercam in compatibility mode to a previous OS version as well. This can be done by right clicking on the Mcam icon on the desktop and going to compatibility, then drop down the version that works best and apply. I hope that helps. Seth
  8. I totally share Brian's frustrations, as I spent a full day and a half following the pcan, pcan1, and pcan2 in conjunction with the x style coolant settings within the tool and toolpath parameter settings. In the initial release of X5, the coolant settings would not "stick" on either setting, but with MU1, they do well now. I got the coolant codes to post out correctly after MUCH work, and all settings "stick" now. This was NOT an easy changeover. I even made sure to start anew with generic X5 machine defs, control files, and post processor files. The question I have is: Is there a way to change all tools globally within a tools-5 library? We have a tool library that started in V9 that has grown to over 1000 tools, and they are cell tools, so we need the descriptions and percentages to stay the same. I just want to be able to utilize the x style coolant settings. Can I change them all together, or do I need to go into each one individually? Will I need to convert to .txt and import??
  9. Thanks John, That is helpful. I have another question as well. We have a rather large tool library that has been updated from Mcam X2 through X4. When I updated the tool library to X5, the tool file name stayed referenced to the mcamx4 data path on the c:\ drive. Is there a way to update or migrate the tool library so the data paths update as well, or might I have done the update or migration incorrect? Thanks, Seth
