MC202 Update 1 has been released

The maintenance date to use this is 5/31/19 which I believe is the same date as the original release

The email I got says it is available via the auto update utility or via download from Mastercam.com

showed up in auto updates this morning

2019 to 2020 was painful.

It did expose some problems on my system with Windows Update though (which was a good thing) and forced me to update my video drivers.

2020's been stable though for me since getting the installation squared away. However, it takes over a minute to launch. I looked at the log and there are no issues there. With the specs on my rig, the launch should be near instantaneous.

Dell Precision 7710

Intel Xeon CPU E3-1545M v5 @ 2.9GHz

64GB RAM

NVidia Quadro M5000M w/ 8GB RAM

Samsung 970 VO SSD @ 1TB

Windows 10 Pro

My new work computer is slower than death, esp with Mastercam....   Not quite the specs you have, but it has very good specs for a laptop.  Slower than death for everything in comparison to my 4 year old personal rig...

Yup...even with a SSD Mastercam startup in pretty close to 2 minutes...that's opening empty, not loading anything, a fresh new instance. Between the crawl to load, then find the license server, then actually finish loading so you can open a file....it's slower than molasses on a cold winter morning.

I just timed the opening of a 45meg mill/turn file

50+ operations with 2 stock models and very large busy solids ( Ø100" +) .. mcam files, post and tool files all on  our network   33 seconds

That seems slow to me, but it certainly isn't 2 minutes

This machine is 5 years and not as hot as the machine is my siggy

When we the Nethasp, it was a bit quicker. Since we've moved to Codemeter/WiBu licensing, it is DOG slow...IT here is their own fiefdom, though they'll work with us on things, but I wonder if it isn't related to a virtualized server.  Either way, I can get a cup of coffee while Mastercam starts up

Interesting.. If it were me, I'd be having a talk with IT

Time is money and a 2 minute launch time is not acceptable

I've attached a log file saved as txt

I launched a fresh file by double clicking my desktop icon

and put a note at the point in the file where I did this

Start to finish the launch took 19 seconds ...4 seconds to check our nethasp

the longest task was running "command lines" at 10 seconds

Here's my log file. Almost a minute here. WHat it doesn;t show is the time from the last item in the log until I can actually start working which adds some more time.

Mine is not dissimilar...you are correct though, the initial startup time before the logger even launches and then the time it's up and finishing whatever it's doing are not captured anywhere...

Launch an empty file, open the event logger and note where it has stopped.

Then launch again

In the one I did, the fresh launch starts with the Restart and Recovery lines

I just noticed I mislabeled the sample log file I uploaded

It should look like this

the line in red is the first line of a fresh launch

"Information","12/13/2019","11:02:09","","Creating a Machine Group","",12172  <------- last line of previous launch

start of launching a fresh empty file

"Information","12/13/2019","11:02:22","","Restart and Recovery: registering for restart and recovery.","",14440

"Information","12/13/2019","11:02:22","","Restart and Recovery: recovery registration succeeded.","",14440

I just cant afford to move to 2020. I cant chance my 1 to 2 gig files in 2019 with deadlines and do dates

That is probably for the best, I have read a lot of issues related to this version.. If anything we will implement on router : not for metal shop : not for 5 axis. Router only because there are built in safeguards.
