We have a VF4SS here that occasionally will give as a 617 alarm(missing address code).  Cant figure out the problem.

N4 T2 M6

( 1/4 SPOTDRILL | TOOL2 | D2 | H2 | dia.25 )

G0 G90 G54 X0. Y.47 S1200 M3

G43 H2 Z.1

/M8

G99 G83 Z-.075 R.1 Q.1 F2.

G80

M5

G91 G28 Z0. M9

M01

That's the code that triggered the alarm the last time.  Something on the G99 line triggers it.  It doesn't happen all the time though...

I would delete your tool's comment and test. Just because the alarm stops one a particular line does not always mean it is in fact on that line. Also, with different versions of software on Haas machines through out the years, they all handle things a little differently.

+1 Usually because of the read ahead the alarm is on a line in front of where it alarms out.

Ive tried all of this and still giving me the alarm.  It basically means that we cant drill, and we tried It on the VF4 and VF2, same problem.  I've contacted my MC distributor and they said everything Is fine with the code.  Next move is to get in touch with Haas.  Its weird because it has only been happening for about a month, no problems before.  Ive even tried 2 different posts.  And Ive been on 2020 since the beta, and its just happens now.  Thanks for all the help

My search results are saying that a 617 error, on a mill, is a motor overheat alarm. It's only a missing address on a lathe.

Does it only happen on drill ops? Milling ops are fine? If so, it is obviously not this.

If milling ops are giving the same alarm, you my need to reset a breaker in the electric cabinet.

Milling ops are fine, in fact the following op is a peck drill and it works fine.
