Circular interpolation and Mastercam 2018

Hi,

I am new to this site and also to Mastercam. I have written a few turning programs using it. The problem I am having is the programs that have been generated use incremental programming with circular interpolation "I" and "K'. I prefer to use absolute "R". Could somebody please tell me how to get Mastercam to generate programs using an "R". Any help would be very much appreciated!

Hi, you will need to access your machine definition then control definition from the machine tab.

Then change under the arc tab -> XY Plane from Delta Start to center to radius.

If your machine will take it, it's always better to run IJK than R

I am curious why you say that?

It's always better to give the program the actual positional moves(I,J,K) as opposed to letting the control calculate(R)

Can really be funky sometimes on small partial arc segments..I have also had machines cut an egg instead of a circle using R's
