A giant note crippled mastercam today for me

The customer had the standard ITAR no reproduction only approved contractor note in the step file. Took a couple minutes to open and I couldn't navigate if I zoomed out it would take a couple minutes to zoom out.

I clicked a note and hit delete 5 minutes later I was able to navigate and function normally.

But according to the level manager it only had 127 entities. Can a  note really take up that much space?

We're doing more in the last couple versions of MC to bring in the AP242 data, so that 'note' might actually be a '3D Annotation' entity that is actually lots of polylines and not a text string (depending on how its represented in the STEP file).

If you want I could take a look at it and maybe provide some help as to what it is and why its there.

I'll check with the bosses. But I believe the customer is doing more of that lately.

Usually the models come in with extra long entities on the zero. Like 40 inches long

Leon82,

Did you end up pursuing this any further?

I'd like to investigate whether there's a STEP import issue we're not aware of.

If you can't send a file, I understand,

Pete

I haven't. I can ask my boss tomorrow.

It is an ITAR file
