Slotting tool

We have an aluminum part that we have to slot, on a 3X machine. I'm trying to find a slotting saw that will cut a 1/4" slot with a 1.5" radial depth of cut. Can anyone recommend a tool for this?

I think a Slitting saw will be your best best on a arbor. Might look to an inserted tool. Is this a limited area closed shape or unlimited open area to get to the feature you need to machine?

We've got plenty of room, I'm leaning towards a 6" saw & arbor.

look at the Sandvik coromill QD. they work great in all materials and great tolerances too

That should be pretty easy. Do you need to go all the way to a floor or can it be on a regular style arbor? One shot? 

Also can try AB tools for a custom brazed carbide tool. Maybe not the best high performance tool, but they always get the job done for me. 

Ultradex built me a  nice custom 7" that worked really well, though it was 1/2" wide cut.

Check with robb jack. They make a lot of nice solid carbide saws.
