Analyze distance setting problem

Hi all,

I'm pretty much a self taught MC novice, sorry for the simple questions.  Using X8 Router

Somehow I've had a setting change on me. Previously when I use the analyze distance tool my cursor would just look like it normally does but now when  I select  it it comes up with a little cross and a pencil sort of thing next to it. Also it doesn't snap to lines any more, only to end point s, mid points and intersections. I can't seem to find a setting that relates to this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jonathan

the Pencil is likely your Grid snaps, try doing ALT+G in mastercam to open Grid settings and turn off the snap to grid and show grid options.

In x8, to change your options on what you can snap to just Right click on the screen and in the right click menu open up AutoCursor, inside there you can choose what your able to snap to

Thanks! That was it. I did altG and changed it from active to visible grid and now its back the way it was before.

While I've got someone who knows what they're doing.....maybe you can help with this also? Whenever I make a radius or circle there is a crosshair left in the center. Never had that before either. I do lots of holes so the crosses really get in the way of seeing the part.

Thanks in advance!

Actually what I did was uncheck active grid, not turn on visible grid.

Sorry for being so late getting back to this. Thanks for the suggestions. I did turn off display arc center points and that didn't do it. Still have the crosshairs.

Those are points. Turn off display points in View or the configuration settings and they will be gone.

I have "display arc center points" turned off in configuration/CAD settings but still get them. Where else would I look? I don't see anything in view.

Also these are created when I use the "fillet entities" tool

He is using X8 the days before the Ribbon.

See if you have create arc center points on when making the fillets. I don't remember that being an option, but you could have turned something on in the configuration settings creating them when arc or circles are made. Maybe you turned on points in the Entity Attributes Manger under the CAD tree?

I use X9 and I don't see this behavior when creating fillets or otherwise. Are you sure they're actual points? Click Screen-->Statistics. Does it list a certain number of points? If not, then they appear to be a graphical glitch. Try Screen-->Regenerate display list and see if that makes them disappear. If it does, then it's possibly a video card/display issue.

They are really points. I can highlight them, delete them whatever. It's just a pain when there are lots of them confusing a drawing.

I have unselected the "display arc center points" box in setting/configuration/CAD settings but they still keep coming back.  See attached screenshot

I certainly understand what a pain that would be. If they are points, which you say they are, then the display arc center points config setting won't do anything for you. Actual points are displayed differently than arc center points. See below. The one on the right is a point. Inside the circle is an arc center point.
