Triangular Mesh is not taking negative offset

I'm using triangular mesh tool path to do a 5-axis motion surface profiling.  I'm trying to make an offset for -.005 but tool path disappears.  It will take a positive offset but not a negative.

I would appreciate any help.

They don't support negative amounts. Will have to make a .005 smaller model and drive the toolpath from that.

In addition to the limitation of "no negative Surface Offsets", the Triangle Mesh Toolpaths are 3-Axis Paths. Not 5-Axis paths.

The Triangle Mesh paths always use a "Fixed Tool Axis" strategy, for generating the "Cut Pattern" of how the Tool moves across the surfaces. The "Collision Control" methods can be used to tilt the Tool Axis, to avoid a collision, but this really works best with Ball endmills.

What is the reason you're using a Triangle Mesh path? Parallel, Morph 2 Curves, and Cuts Along Curve (creates planes by slicing the Drive Curve, using your Stepover value for the distances between the slice planes, and intersects the planes with the drive surfaces), are generally my 'go to' paths for full 5-Axis cutting.

Since the Triangle Mesh paths are really just "3-Axis paths", I would recommend you just change paths to a 3-Axis High-Speed Toolpath, since these paths allow you to create "multiple groups of Drive and Check Surfaces". The Surface Groups allow negative "stock to leave" values, so you wouldn't have to offset any surfaces to create these HST paths.

You would have to use model prep -> push pull to shrink the 3d model by that amount.

Or if you are using surfaces, the surface -> offset function can be used.
