VPN VS REMOTE LOGIN MASTERCAM USE AT HOME

What is everyone's preference on using VPN or just remote log in?  I use Mastercam at home with remote log in and wireless, it is little slow and switching between screens is a pain.

I have a Cad/Cam worthy computer at home with Mastercam installed.

I VPN to the license server and run Mastercam locally.

VPN is the better way to go...

With VPN you are running locally and only pinging across the VPN for licensing

Remote is painfully slow trying to program across the internet on a remote machine

With the VPN , Do I have to change anything on my Hasp? We currently have a nethasp.

No...

the only change you'll have to make is to the nethasp.ini file on your local computer..

Came here to say this.

 

VPN is definitely the way to go though, tried the remote log in, biggest issue for me is I wasnt able to use my 3D mouse  over remote login.

Windows Remote Desktop does not support 3D mice

I've been told that third party software like Go to My PC does, but it costs $$$ and our IT Department was not willing to spend it, so I have 

not tried it and don't know if it is true or not

I find remote desktop works fine but our office is also a large data center and our network and VPN is very robust. The advantage of RD is your files all stay local in the office so there is much less data transfer if you're working directly off on-premise network drives.  But there are one or two weird issues with MasterCAM display.
