5 axis Toolpath Advice

I'm after a quick point in the right direction for which toolpath to use for a component, i have some experience on 5 axis toolpaths - used swarf on a few occasions - but mostly just do 2/3 axis (position 2 axis - then x,y,z.). The job has various degrees of angled flanges - but for question i'm asking - imagine its square. If i wanted to scan area shown with arrow - i.e. spinning axis rather than x,y & z. or in other words- a surface driven scanning toolpath - which makes my 5 axis machine act more like a 4th axis - any suggestions which 5 axis toolpath to use and i'll have a go with it ?

The real secret for getting the part to spin, is your choice of Tool Axis Control method. In this case, create a simple surface using 2 circles, slightly underneath that section. Then Morph between 2 Curves, or Morph Between 2 Surfaces.

The other option is to take the Flange Surface (radial flange), and build a surface using 2 concentric circles, and using Swarf with multi-passes.

paulfell you should check out this youtube channel when you get a chance if you are new to mastercam multi-axis, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwYPN_sM3u-_D8bUfUD_pXA/videos, i just recently stumbled across this persons youtube channel via this forum and am pretty impressed with this persons knowledge and he seems like he teaches mastercam multi-axis at a high skill level. so if your still a bit new to multi-axis, I expect you will benefit from some of his tutorial videos. In my opinion his YT channel is a great place to start learning multi-axis at no cost.
