Rotary milling

Recommended Posts

Good Morning,

I am doing a somewhat large part on a horizontal machine.

For parts of the program  I rotary mill (part turns on rotary table)

There are areas that I can not rotary mill due to closer, smaller spots.

Is there a way or better yet an example to rotary mill following curves or wireframe instead of surfaces?

All I am looking for is to place ball mill on a chain and have machine rotate to a spot .

I can not find anything in MasterCam 2020 that will allow this.

Thanks in advance.

Well... when I absolutely positively have to have TOTAL control over rotary motion, Curve 5-Axis is my go to toolpath. It my be a little intensive to create the wireframe to drive the path but the control is perfection.

I have "linked" so many paths this way before.  It's intense but a few days of programming and creating wire frame is way better than one crashed head in an expensive machine.
