Creating small boring tools

Recommended Posts

Hello, I’m new to mastercam offline programming in my company. I’ve been on the relevant courses and I’m primarily focusing on the turning side of things. We didn’t cover much on the creating tools side of things. I’ve got a job I’m working on at the moment which requires boring an 11mm bore 15mm deep, and then down a 45deg angle to a 2.5mm drilled hole. I can’t get the stp file from the company’s tool I am using, and I cant seem to create anything through mastercams ‘create tool’ section small enough to replicate the tool I’m going to be using. I want to create a 3mm Horn boring bar, just not sure where to start. Thanks in advance for any help/tips!

Here are some tools I created for a customer. They decided to cheat me out of some pay so you get what they cheated me out of for free. They are divided into two components to use them as 3D lathe tools with no problem in Mastercam. I also added the PDFs they were created from so you have an idea what they were made to represent.
