Solid models coming in as NURBS surfaces

I been asked to program some electrodes that were prepared by someone who recently left the company, so I'm on his computer (SW2020 and MC2021). My usual work is on SW2007 and MC2021. Ordinarily, I have no difficulty opening a part file in Mastercam and proceeding, whether it be a cavity block or electrode that I model. But in this case, when I open his file, every surface comes in as "NURBS Surface" or "Trimmed NURBS Surface". I know the features in question are simple flat surfaces and radii, but I can't use Analyze on them, or create planes or triple-click to select the entire body. What is happening with the way this file has been processed?
