"Thumbnail" not shown in tool manager after creating 3D tool

I've been using Mcam, happily creating 2D tools for a few years now. I decided to dip my toes into making 3D tools. So far the biggest hitch is I'm not getting an "icon" or a "thumbnail" in my tool manager screen. Does anyone know what I need to do differently, short of going back to 2D tools?

I did use the search function, but did not find an answer. Thanks in advance!

I have noticed it happens most often to me when I try to modify a 3D tool that I have previously created, and then the thumbnail will go away.

I can still use the "export geometry to a level" option and the tool data is still all there.

I went back through the process and got goo result. went back toy yours reviewed nothing jumped out at me. try it again. report back please.
