Extend a Line

Does anyone know how to extend a line or curve by a specific distance in X?

Oooohhhhh....

 

I don't have the sim here but I'll try...

 

Press the "trim" button.

 

Note there is a choice in the ribbon bar about breaking or regular trim. You'll take the regular option (default, I think)

 

One of the fields up top allows you to set a length. Mastercam automatically assumes you want to "extend" after you put a value in that field because if you were going to really trim something there would be no need for a length...

 

Try that out... Maybe not exact but should get you on the right path...

Page down to Modify - Extend and it shows the location of that function in X

todd, i downloaded the x transition pdf and printed it out. 34 pages i believe. i have it sitting on my desk at all times. look up the old command and it tells you where to find the new one.

 press trim icon , as default some options of trim will available on ribbon bar , press on trim to point  icon and select the desired line, then click the point where you want to extend that line.

If the line is in the Y direction  , you will  never be able to extend it in the X

I use analyze entity properties to extend, shorten or re-position a line, won't extend an arc although, but will re-locate it or change the radius.

I generally use "trim to point" if i want to extend an entity to a predetermined point

I actually just used trim to point after noticing it there it is a Time saver for me.
