I want to model the solid in pro/E and export them into MasterCAM

Hi;

I want to model the solids with complicated shape and export those solids into MasterCAM, do you think it is a good solution? I know there are several good translator softwares to achieve it, does it work well? What are their shortcoming and advantages?

i think with the translater you will have no trouble and it would work great.

Pro-e make some nice models.

i woud do it.

If you want to see how a model converts with the converter i will convert one Pro-e file for you tp show you how it will come in for you.

Hello Liwen, all of our engineers use pro-e

we used the mastercam/cimsoftek direct translator for a while but it got to be a joke, they never had the translator up to the latest revisions of pro-e plus when you were translating some of the geometry, it came out as trash. So we swithced to just having pro-e export as a iges file. We have had our best luck with that.

Webmaster: Changed "mastercam/cimco" to "mastercam/cimsoftek".

We just finished up a large project here using PreE models iges translated into Mastercam (8.1.1). We found several errors with Mastercam machining the iges surfaces. These errors were corrected when I used the comsoftek translator and recut the toolpath on the new surfaces.

Soooo, if we do any more ProE to Mastercam, we will be using the direct tramslator!

We use pro-e and we have the translator and have never had a problem with messy imports or anything .. works great for us.

I know Granite One is the new product of PTC, I believe it can deal with the *.prt file well, but how about its performance on other softwares? Is there anyone has used it?

I found Mastercam Step translator worked better with Pro E Files especially those with solids as the solids also come into Mastercam nice and clean.

we work on proe and mastercam.I like to export surface without wire frame from proe to iges. and import in mastercam.It seems good to me.

The problem is he want's to bring it in as a true solid.. either the pro-e translator or the step with do this .. iges just does surfaces ..

I've used Granite and it work awesome. I can't say what software I used it with but I will say that it is an even better option than CIMSOFTEK's option.

I would like to try Granite, however need a few more translations first thing Monday morning, and the other is set up.

I will contact PTC and see if they have a demo or somthing..
