trouble with FTP

I have tried cuteFTP Filezilla and smart ftp. I can get the root directory list to come up, but when I try to access the mastercam directory I get a timed out, or access denied error. Please can somebody help. I am on XP SP2 and passive is unchecked.

using. I can access the FTP through IE, but I don't want to. Don't like IE. If you have UG don't download latest IE... UG wont work afterwards..

with ftp.ppcadcam.com it will not let me in at all. Just getting timed out all the time. I am just using Filezilla for now.

There is a setting somwhere in filezilla to turn passive mode off.

in fireFTP under "preferences" on "interface" tab is passive mode.

 

although this may on may not work. I'm also having trouble getting to login

I think that is incorrect. select your ftp account, hit the manage accounts button, edit, then under connection tab uncheck passive mode.

In Filezilla

Connection manager, choose account, then advance tab. Then select active mode.

I must be missing somethine at my computer. I still cant get on.

 

FTP.ppcadcam.com gets me to a top directory(I think)

I can see 6 folders: cadcamconsulting, customer files, mastercam_forum etc.

Im in the same boat pip was in. My old box was fine. This new one is messed up. Windows Xp sp2, filezilla,IE & fireFTP dont work. I have gotten furtherest with filezilla. I can see the mastercam_forum folder but cant open it. Its probably something simple & stupid Im missing.

Hi T_malena.

In filezilla you have to be in your connections manager. Choose the ftp site from the list(if you have more than 1 FTP there will be a list).

Host should be www.ppcadcam.com server type needs to be FTP..your user name is mastercam and the password is swiss. Now press the tab, down at the bottom left marked advanced.. In the default remote directory you should have Mastercam_forum. then the far right radio button .use active mode should be on. Then everything should work okay..
