Benchmark

Ive been playing around with my cluster system and looking back at it, making a folding at home system for mastercam is plausable. But enabling CUDA for the system is even easier. I retract my earlier statement about cuda. It has gotten a lot easier to code for it. I want to try to write a patch for x4 so I can enable CUDA but I doubt it will work. Ill have to do that at kernel level. Oh well.

Looks liek we're going to need a new benchmark file. Unfortunately a file that will adequately exeercise that beast woudl cripple about 75% of the machines in the benchmark. biggrin.gif

I had a file that I was working on a few weeks ago that took 1 hr 45 min to process, so for sh!ts and giggles I opened it up and regened it in just a hair under 13 minutes

Nice, well we need a mod to oversee and give us a file. Let's start the game.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm planning on buying the Dell M6400 Covet this fall after Windows 7 is released. Is there any real benefit buying the QX9300 C-2-Quad processor versus the base model's C-2-Duo 2.53 MHZ processor if I am only running MC X4 Mill Level 1?

In other words, can I get a recomendation on how I can best spend my money on this "Top of the line" laptop for use with Mill Level 1?

TIA

Guru, I am a real "Tim the tool man Taylor" kind of guy (more power arrrgh) when it comes to my computer, so the 6400 covet is on my wish list too. But when it comes to letting go of my money, I know that I could buy a laptop for half the price of the covet and Mill Level-1 would run just fine. A friend of mine has the M4400 with the FX770 card and it handles Mill lev 1 with no trouble. We do mill level 3 on the M4400 too, but many times we are wishing it had more horsepower in the CPU, Ram, and video card.
