here is my benchmark from a fresh install of X4 on a fresh install of XP smile.gif

 

 

Bought the Motherboard off Ebay and put it togtether with scrap parts.

 

Got about 300 bucks in it..more specs are here

 

first timr to mess with multithreading on X4...

 

First time I crunched a toolpath on X4 actually.

 

Here is my test results..

I did it again with the regen files and it was under a minute cool...opened the file and changed all three ops to .0001 tolerance.

 

Did I do it right?

When i open the file i was asked if i would convert

only the units or all configuration-settings.

I choose all configuration settings.

 

before every test i reboot the system.

 

X1 MR2: 7min 49sec

 

X2 Demo: 6min 58sec

 

X3 MU1: 5min 28sec

 

X4 Demo (HLE)

without HT: 4min 3sec

with HT: 2min 27sec

 

X4 MU1

without HT: 4min 10sec

with HT: 2min 28sec

 

(when i move the OP#3 before the OP#1

times change to: 1min 55sec)

I have a single 21" wide screen. I'd prefer around a 24. I don't need duals but I'm sure it would be nice too.

 

I have a definite preference to the wide screen format. With most CAD/CAM software having some sort of operations manager on one side of the screen I feel very strongly that widescreen makes a lot more sense. If you use a traditional 4:3 monitor the graphics area feels really restricted.

 

Regarding your question about distortion...

 

I believe the trick is to set your computer to match the "native resolution" of the monitor.
