Same part but Metric with same converted tolerance 0.0025mm

turned Hyperthreading OFF and it reduced the time from 30 min 50 sec down to 29 min 30 sec. I'm hoping for a 25 minute reduction! Any other sugestions! I guess it must have something to do with the vpn connection?

If someone could send me the file, I'd like try it on an AMD laptop, and an Intel desktop.

For some reason, the server on the Mcam support site shuts off when the samples are only halfway downloaded.. ??

I shut down Outlook, iTunes, and other memory hogs.

 

In our benchmarks the M70 and M65 are pretty close. Some toolpaths - like Parallel seem to be faster on the M65. They have better graphics cards, so when the toolpath includes showing graphics during the calculations, they are faster on the M65, otherwise equivalent.

How many of you guys posting these 5 minute times reran the benchmark to get these low times? The last time we went through one of these benchmark deals, it was found that if you run it a second time it was a lot faster because everything was in the cache.

 

I can't believe that there is such a difference in these times, with the computers being so close in spec. There is no reason for the xeons to be twice as fast with a program like Mastercam that doesn't take advantage of dual processors. They do have a little more cache on the chip, but this isn't really proving anything....

Turning it back on, no problems.

I dont know about anyone else but I regenerated only 1 time.Did exactly what Roger described.

It was just over 6 mins.

I didn't want to sound like I was accusing anyone of "cheating", but obviously all things are not equal when 2 machines with almost the same specs can be so different...

Mastercam can't use the dual core, but the computer can. The dual core frees up proccessing

power because WinDoze and all the computer overhead can run on one proccessor freeing up the other one to crunch Mastercam.

 

The evidence is pretty clear. Dual core pentiums

are beating single core pentiums and single core Xeons. Dual core Xeons are smoking everything.

It would be interesting to see what kinds of times

a quad core Xeon would produce.

My rule of thumb is to use 10% of the stock to leave

 

.02 stock .002 tol(rough)

.01 stock .001 tol etc

0 stock .0003 tol is my max

gcode, there are some xeons with 11 minute times too...

 

I have a dual xeon also, so i'm not biased really

12min 7sec(1st pass) not bad for less than $1000system

 

Autosave was on at 7min interval so it saved once durring test. Also running Ramsaver Pro.

For S&Giggles, I turned the Affinity on Mastercam.exe to CP1 only, and set the Priority to Realtime.

 

when from 9:02 down to 8:35

Are you supposed to leave the filter off and just change the tolerance to 0.0001?

If so, mine was:

9min 43sec

Amd Athlon 64 3500 2.2Ghz

3gb ram

Nvidia 7600 GS

XP pro
