probably a dumb question

Being a mold maker. I have never really spent anytime programming production parts. So, with that disclaimer please don't make fun of me too bad.

I need to do some short run production with a manual index fixture. I need to be able to program in several "planned stops" or dwells with the spindle stopping so an operator can reach in and index the parts. My machine has an option to read an M1 just for this. And it works just fine if I put it in the program by hand. But, my problem is this. How do I get Mastercam to post it out in the program? I don't need it between every operation. And the program is getting rather lengthy to read through to put them where they need to be. Oh, I am still using V9 as well.

Thanks in advance.

...You could also select "force tool change" at the op's you want it to stop at and use your op stop (m01)...

This is my preferred method of dealing with this very issue. This way you KNOW everything that needs to be activated gets activated.

Can you not use M00 instead? Just a thought, but this way the machine will stop when it needs to regardless of the optional stop being switched on or off.

Just my prefered method. I use opional stop for toolchanges to prove out a prog, and machine stop (MOO) for things like you are doing.

Also, I do it with the manual toolpath. Prob cause I have never used miss integers.

Manual entry in MC9 the "as code" is option 1006 in the little NCI output method box where option 1005 is "as comment".

I have a guy that still uses v9 and i told him to put a manual entry in for a m00. I said just put in code for machine home and put in the m00 and then use "as code" cuz thats what it has in x2.

He came out and said ther is no as code. I was like yes there is i will show ya.

i went in there and i was like where is it.

Then i realized that i only used manual entry after i started x.

Its kind of weird they would make it 1005 and 1006 like your gonna know what that means.

thats probably why i never used it and always entered in m00 after outputing the code.

x2 mr2 is much easier when it comes to manual entry and i use it all the time smile.gif

I found my V9 post that addressed this. This is before I ever used it and made it work right. That is why they are commented out.

pcomment2 #Comment from manual entry

scomm = ucase (scomm)

"(", scomm, ")", e

# if gcode = 1007, "(", scomm, ")"

# else,

# if gcode = 1006, "M00", "(", scomm, ")", e

# else, "(", scomm, ")", e
