mastercam x4 Direct for solidworks2009(64bit)

I have installed mastercam x4 and also at the same time I have installed solidworks2009. Then I encountered one problem. The mastercamX4 Direct for solidworks2009 can't work. This means I can't export Mastercam file from solidworks2009 TOOL BAR menu directly, instead I have to open Mastercam software and then choose one solidworks file to open it. My solidworks2009 is the 64-bit version.

But it worked very well when I used mastercamX3 and solidworks2008 (32-bit version). Could anyone suggest me any solution for this problem?

When you built your new comptuer which got installed first

SolidWorks or Mastercam??

If you installed SolidWorks first..

maybe...it didn't see Mastercam

so Mastercam Direct was not installed..

If this is the case, try a repair install of SolidWorks now that you have Mastercam on the machine..

I did what you suggested to repair solidworks2009, but it didn't work. Wondering if it is because solidwors2009 is 64-bit edition??

I think you are correct. I have SW 2009 x64 installed on my home system. I just checked and Mastercam Direct is not there.

I never noticed before because I don't use it.

I export my models out as a parasolid and use Solidworks Co-odinate Systems to control

thier orientation in Mastercam.

Its more work the Mastercam Direct, but much more powerful.

gcode, why not use Dynamic in Mastercam instead of export as parasolid?

Using SW's coordidinate system,

I can control how my part and stock

land in Mastercam. I can also make

an STL model of my stock and define

it's orientation in space.

Xforming stuff around in Mastercam

or using WCS is an extra step

Doing it this way, it lands in Mastercam

the right way from the start.

There is an added benifit.

Many of the customer models I work with are so

big (or jacked up) that they blow up or crash

when I try to Xform them.

If they come into Mastercam properly oriented,

I don't have to worry about it.

I just got email from my mastercam software vender and told me that it is really because of the solidworks2009 64-bit problem. So I have to wait for the patch to fix the problem.

Mastercam x Direct is a great tool to help me save time to open and find the direction of the solidworks file. Can't lost it!!!
