simple part mark engrave prob x3 x3mu1 x4

I used to be able to do part marking using create letters. then using 2d toolpath and do a window around the letters or numbers and it would then ask to pick a start point. then it would toolpath them. I cant seem to be able to do this anymore,does anyone have a solution or work around.

Yeah it's a simple one too.....just click the 3D button in the toolpath window and it will work. I have the same problem, even though it's all a 2d path.

This has not changed on how you that, I do it all the time. there must be something you are doing differently.

Just did it yesterday in X4mu1.

Are you using a window select and then clicking for the sketch point?

Are you making sure you turn cutter comp to off?

 

can you tell me what it is not doing?

Toonz works fine in 2D and 3D not an issue unless the letters are not flat.

I had the same problem, but I think it was only an X4 thing cause it works fine now

boy i just love it when everybody says there isnt a prob.

 

when i do this it wont even pick anything in the window after i select the start point. 2d or 3d really doesnt matter.cutter comp doesnt matter. it never gets far enough to finish so the window comes up to do everything else. as for x4mu1 i cant get it as we droped maintence this year.

 

oh and im not the only one in our company that has this prob.x2 was the last time it worked for me.

Are you sure you have the window set to "in"? Sometimes when I use window "out" I forget to set it back to "in".

Dolphin1....Did you try what toonz said. Click the 3d button instead of cplane (not the 3d/2d on bottom of screen....its in the toolpath window) and it should work. I had this problem a while back and this worked for me. Its been like this for a while now. At least since x2!!

Hey,I have a different problem... I am trying to project letters on a ruled surface. I used to do this easy with 9. Now with X3 it is only projecting part of the flat toolpath. The customer LOGO is fine,but the part number and spplier code is skipping some parts of the letters.

well did some digging today, found someone had turned off all the masking check boxes in chaining in the configuration. I turned back on entity and open and closed chains and everything works.
