FBM ?

I haven't used it and I wish CNC would put their efforts elsewhere, like extending dynamic milling capabilities to 3-axis, or fixing the current overengagement issue with the 2D dynamic milling, or how about fixing the existing bugs. Any programmer that could do a good job of setting up FBM could program those types of parts in their sleep, and quickly too.

With the right kind of work it can be useful.

I don't get work like that often, but I'll run it through FBM when I get one, just to see what happens.

If I force it to use MY tool library it can

output some decent toolpaths once in a while.

Its best use is as a training aid..

The 2D HS toolpaths can do all sorts of interesting things.

When I've got spare time I'll run a part though FBM and check all the toolpaths out..

Its a good way to learn the tricks to effectivtive

use of the 2D high speed toolpaths...

Occasionally, I'll actually use one of the toolpaths FBM generates..

have I ever windowed a part.. posted the result

and sent the code to the floor... No..

All the big CAM softwares have FBM of some sort

and Mastercam is must have it too to remain competitive..

The current offering is not real strong, but it will get better.

Ten years from now kids probramming parts will be whining cause they actually had to chain something mad.gif

Today's hi-tech is tomorrow's old school..

Adapt or die..

Well, tried FBM drill on a part this morning for a time study I'm doing... not quite worthless but... if I had a shop, I'd be writing a check for Mold Plus' Pro-Drill without hesitation.

In terms of maturity, FBM drill is still pooping it's diapers and Pro-Drill is in College - Ivy League even.

So...I just tried FBM drill and that has brought me here. When I click on FBM drill I get a lovely window that reads ""FBMDRILL" not found in operation defaults file" then shows the path it is looking to....I'm running X3MU1. The path appears correct. I just started using X3 from X2MR2. Did I fudge up something in the importing of my files?? Any ideas??
