Got a new machine, Horizontal. Just wondering what others are doing for tombstones. Making using weldments, buying cast blanks, etc?

I would serious look at Techgrip for some tombstones: Link I would also look at tombstone city: Link jergerns and others make them. Then sometime you just have to make your own. I made up a 24" x 24" x 30" tall one for our H630. That works out to 20 sqft of space to do machining on. I also made up a 18" x 18" x 30". then I made a special criss cross one that had 4 legs for some round parts to get to all sides off center. It allow for an overlap inside and still fit them on the machine. With room to add sub plate for other job on them. Here is picture of that for out H-630 machine:

Tombstone City stuff is imported from Taiwan. Never heard anything bad about them though.

We use Kurt tombstones as well as the Clusterstowers. Both are just fine.

I've used Chick Tombstones in the past. Machinable jaws and very quick change over and setup times make them a good choice for repeat jobs. They make all kinds of workholding for many different applications, easy to rebuild and repair also.

we made our own, with a grid pattern and doweled holes. For what they charge even for the blank ones, its waaaay cheaper to make your own plus you can make them how you want. we used 1x8 steel for the column and 1.5 thick steel for the base and Jergens ball-locks to mount them to the pallet.
