X+ Setup Sheet and Tool List - 3rd party Add-on

  • 5 weeks later...

I need a favor from someone who has access to X+ setup sheet. I could do this on Monday when I'm back to work, but I've got some time to work on this now here at home over the weekend.

Could someone create an html setup sheet with every column option (comment, tool number, corner radius, XY stock, etc) turned on, then email me the setup sheet. A while back, a forum member asked how to change the column names. I wrote some javascript that will do just that. I need to know what all the different options are so I can add the code for them. I'll then make this available to the forum so you can name any column whatever you'd like.

I appreciate the help.

Thad

How do I edit the column names? I use a lot of the colums and I think I could save space by shortening the column names!

Thanks

EDIT: Works with X6 and X7.

Here's a javascript file that will allow you to assign your own names to the columns in the HTML setup sheet. This works with MC X6 and X7. Unzip the attached file and put the default_xss.js file in the .../public/documents/X+ folder with the rest of the X+ files. There's instructions on how to use it in the readme file.

The setup sheet is already looking for default_xss.js. Since it doesn't exist, it continues without it and creates your setup sheet for you. Now when you drop the .js file in the folder that I specified, the .js file will get read and your column names (that you've previously edited, per my instructions) will magically show up in your setup sheet. The javascript file is completely independent of your custom settings.

I'm really glad you got back to me on this, Mickey. I customized my setup sheets back when I used to use them too, but I always saved them as the default X+ file name (default_xss..or whatever it is). Because of that, I had no idea that it would look for a similarly named .js file too! Thanks for letting me know. I'll have to re-do the instructions.

If anyone else is having trouble using the setup sheet or tool list .js files that I uploaded, please ask here and we'll get you setup or email me. My email is in the .js file, just open it with a text editor like Notepad (not MS Word).

Hi all,

Do anyone know how to change the decimal place of Z_min to 3 digits?

Thanks alot.

Jouson

Windows control panel - Region and Language - Additional settings - Numbers tab. That's going to change all numbers to .XXX (or whatever you select), not just Z_min.

  • 6 months later...

I am having trouble installing X+ for X7. I am getting an error message when the installer tries to write files.

The Error Message is:

"Error opening file for writing:

\chooks\X+\lang.dll"

If I press 'Ignore' I keep getting an error message for each .dll file. The installer won't write any of the .dll files that are supposed to be in the chooks\X+ folder and the file X+.ft (which it tries to put directly in the chooks folder). However when it moves to the C:\User\Public\Documents\X+ directory, it writes all those file with no issue.

We are used to encountering problems with the X+ installer on our PC's at work because they have tight permissions. Yet we found a work around by installing X+ on my laptop and transferring the files to the other PC's and renaming some directories in the files. This worked great for X+ on X6 yet I can't get it to work for the X7 version of X+.

I have tried many different methods with the installer and have given up. My laptop and the PC's at work use Win 7, but I even setup a virtual machine with Win XP to try and get the installer to output the files. Has anyone had trouble like this? Is there anyone willing to zip up the files in the \chooks\X+\ directory and the X+.ft file to send to me?

I am having the same problem and have just read everything since this was posted.  I don't see that it has been answered.  I lost my harddrive and am starting from scratch.  I had previously read thru the whole thread over a year ago when x7 came out and somehow got it loaded.  I'm actually on another computer that we have X7 loaded on.

I have closed Mastercam.

Tried to load it in public\documents folder first.  (Also tried under mcamx7 chook directory.)

Had my administrator log on and try everything.

We are using microsoft defender for antivirus.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a work around?

Thank you all for any help.
