X5 tool library format?

I see that x5 has a new database format to its tool library. What I am trying to do is create my own library without the use of mastercam.

Has anyone done this or could steer me in the right direction on what I would need to do this. I know it can be done because the tool manufacturers are doing it. It is in some sort of SQL format.

Yes, a .ToolDB file is SQL. Specifically SQLite.

There are lots of tools available for viewing / manipulating SQLite DBs.

On of the nicest is sqlite expert by Bogdan Ureche.

Is it possible right now to create my own tooldb from scratch using sqlite? If it is possible, how on earth can I start using this sqlite expert to create a tooldb and fill it full of data that makes sense? Looking at the mill-inch.tooldb in sqlite expert I may as well be reading hieroglyphs in french! Any good books or something on learning this new language?

You can do it with the toollibmaker found on our FTP server.

 

No need for any db or sql skills, end up with tools-5 or tooldb files.

 

Support both mm and inch. Works with X4 and X5.

 

 

You need excel 2010.

you could just do one as a txt file. go into your toolpaths, then tool manager, right click the tool file and import/export, convert tool a library to text and then view the format. then create your own txt file with the same format and import it back to mastercam. i have made mass edits to my current file this way.

I would really like to find a copy of the toollibmaker.zip if possible as well. I have done some searching and also cannot find the ftp anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And PS I am not sure what #Rekd is referring to and neither does my reseller.
