Deleted Toolpaths

AAARRRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I was trying to delete an unused toolpath, so I rightclicked thetoolpath, hit delete.......ALL my content is gone!!!! Just the names remain, no toolpaths.

 

Then I doubled down on my goof and "saved" my error.

 

Is there any way to retrieve my work???

try using the backup function it could have saved your butt in this situation

if you have the backup function at

 

System Config/Files/AutoSave/Backup turned on, you have copies of your last 10 saves

 

 

 

If it is turned on go to Files , find "Backup Files(MCX-6)" in the Data Paths window and see were the files are being saved

 

 

If you don't, you are screwed.....

Well I did not have the backup turned on....so I am screwed. Learned a valuable lesson though. My backup is NOW turned on.

Although it doesn't help for this job - if that happens again you do actually have a limited time to get those toolpaths back! As long as you have not done too much in Mcam since you deleted the ops you can right-click in the Operations Manager and select Undelete. But is has a pretty short memory span

My backup is NOW turned on.

 

Might sound a little redundant but I save twice, i set my back up limit to 2.

that way my back up is VERY current.

Be careful with autosave. We don't use it ever. There is no going back if you screw up, unless you save the original under a different name. We use BACKUP only.

No autosave here, only backup, think I have it set to 100 copies

 

 

The undelete (AFAIK) will only work IMMEDIATELY after you have deleted something.

Here's a question for the back-up function. We have it turned on with 100 max backup files. And for some reason it stops at 1 for some parts, and does the full 100 (I think, it only really goes to like......11 or 12 realistically.) for others. the only noticeable difference between the files it multi-backs up and the ones it only does 1 for is file size. Our big files (100Mb+) will only get 1 back-up while the moderate/small (40Mb and lower) ones get multiples.

 

Sorry if this de-rails the thread, I can repost it as it's own thread. Just thought it might be related =]
