Reverse Engineer G Code

Hi all

is it possible to reverse engineer g code from other software and pull geometry or tool path into Mastercam so you can use posted gcode like from a machine and then import it back into mastercam and then use it to build a part or at least apply it to a new model in mastercam.

Any info on this would be very useful. I know of one software that can get geo from g code and make a model from it or at least a version of the model that can be saved and used .

Cimco edit pro cna save gcode as a dxf file

you can use that in mastercam to create your model

Please bear in mind that if you use the tool path from g-code with G41 or G42 you will be fine in using the DFX file, but if the code was produce with cutter compensation built into the code you need to adjust the path on all radius and angles. I do this a lot in old code lathe that we do not have in MasterCam.

by the way I use both editor and both are about the same price, both are good, however if you use alot of Fanuc Macro B statements NcPlot will allow you to check logic of those statment.

Did you happen to resolve this? I've been looking for a way to change the pivot in my 5 axis hand digitized code. We have a new machine that uses a much smaller pivot and I need a way to move it. I was hoping import to Mastercam and then manipulate the geometry.
