I can live with that i'll just chain partial from now on. Where is this infinite lookahead thing?

 

Now another... extend creates another line instead of extending existing line. Is there a way to make it extend the original line without using trim?

OK so exactly when did chains for contours start going where there are no break points? Had a horizontal line through a circle, tagged the line and it danced around the circle too. Logic behind that please.

 

Your circle starts at the end of the line (at 0°) if the line is like a center line on that circle (ends at that quadrant).

When in trim / extend there are two icons towards the right that control either trim (what you are asking for) or break which is what you're seeing

You've got a trim and break option

 

Use the trim option(the scissors), if you use the break you get a secondary line
