no sim found?

Recommended Posts

Jeremy

There was a recent SafeNet (optional) update that can cause this problem.

Problem: When launching Mastercam, the user is prompted with No SIM found.

Reason for the error: SafeNet’s latest device drivers (version 6.55) prevent the sim from being properly recognized by Window’s Device Manager. The device status is: This device cannot start. (Code 10).

Cause:

  1. When running Windows Update, SafeNet Inc. is listed as an Optional Hardware update. This update will install version 6.55 of the SafeNet USB Key device drivers.
  2. When plugging the sim into a computer for the first time or reconnecting it to a machine, Windows Device Driver search looks for the proper drivers for the device. This process checks online for the latest compatible device driver, which will install version 6.55.

Solution:

SafeNet is aware of the problem and are working to fix their device drivers. We are very close to having a workaround to the problem so customers can be back up and running in the meantime.

This information is going out to resellers along with any workaround we can find (we're working on it) to get things up and running in the meantime.

Sounds like you might have gotten the Safenet 6.55 driver update that was bad. It could have occurred as part of a windows update - it was an optional update or if you plugged your hasp into another port and it found new hardware and hit the web for the latest driver. I swore SafeNet pulled that driver update down just after a few days so it should not be available anymore..

You can go into your device manager and scroll down to the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section and expand it. Then right click on the SafeNet Inc. Hasp Key item and select priorities. Then click the driver tab and look at the version number.

See the attached PDF file for more instructions on fixing the issue. Please let me know what you find out. If you need help, please contact our support staff at [email protected] or 860-875-5006.

Pro/E uses Flexnet and it's 10years ahead of anything I've seen from Alladin. We NEVER have issues with Flexnet. I ROUTINELY have issues with our Nethasp, especially with the Lathe license not releasing. Also no way to customize anything.

As the head of Programming at a company with 10 seats of cam software I advise CNC to start looking at better options for us customers.

Josh,

We are - and what we're looking toward is a software, rather than hardware, security solution. With X7, you may have noticed the CodeMeter icon - that's part of the software development that is going on currently. As you can imagine, this is something that will have to be implemented progressively over time once we have both the software integration completed and the infrastructure to create and send codes ready.

Like Josh, we have "no sim found" especially on our Lathe seats. We are running Mcam 6 Mu3 and while Mu2 cut down our net hasp problems they are still there.

Our programmer/ operators were instructed to use the Aladin monitor to shut down and restart the nethasp, but that stops 5 seats and costs us production.

Because of this I have been looking into softwares such as Process Explorer that trace hooks and allow kills that might eliminate total hasp shutdowns. Windows seems full of these problems because there are many software partial solutions available.

(I looked into the Safenet driver number and we are using 6.22)

Any how, if anyone has looked into this and found some answers, I would like to hear them.

Thanks

We got this reply along with a fix in late february:

Hello,

Recently, SafeNet posted a faulty driver on the Windows Update server that, once installed, caused the Sim to not be recognized. This driver has since been removed, so the problem should not continue. If a customer happened to be affected by the issue, here are the steps to replace the driver with one that will work properly.

”No SIM found” error caused by SafeNet, Inc. HASP drivers

Problem: When launching Mastercam, the user is prompted with No SIM found.

I just did a x7 install the other day and the cimco editor worked at first with no problems but today it says no sim found but x7 still starts and runs no problem. I tried restarting and reselecting another editor and the mastercam editor works but i was using the cinco editor for program transfers to and from the puter. the Cimco worked at first no problems no changes to the settings just plug and play now it says no sim found???. This is the same issue i was getting on x6 a couple of weeks ago which led to the x7 install. no its back today. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks To all

Thanks JP

I did this or so i thought when i did the x7 install so the Cimco Editor would work, but the file was not there so i dropped one in and now it works. We have had some server issues in the past so after installs i usually drop a copy of the nethasp.ini into the main x7 folder , the shared folder /my xcam and now the cimco folder also . doing these things usually take care of server issues with the nethasp.ini not being found and it looks like the Cimco editor hasp not found issue.

Thanks Again
