Corrupt Tools

This update is being released as an incremental patch and should be available via the Automated Update Service.

Rich - how does this work? Am I assuming it does this in the background similar to windows updates?

Because if it does, how do we get this patch because our network isn't connected to the interweb?

thanks

Hi glend123,

The X7-SP2 update will address the issue that was reported when pulling the same tool from the library multiple times within the same machine group.

This update is being released as an incremental patch and should be available via the Automated Update Service.

I hope it happens soon!

SO far in my usage of SP2

This nasty little bug "seems" to be cleaned up. Any "new" file created "IN" SP2 is not doing it, however, all the files in X7 previous to SP2, can still open up with corrupt tools.

So just be aware that if you see corrupt tools, the file is likely pre-SP2

Since most of my work involves updating and modifying preexisting files I still see it a lot. The workaround I've found for the "unable to add tool" error is this: After you get the error, save the file and reload it. The tool should now be in the list but without its holder. Do not delete this tool at this point. Try adding the tool again, click "ok" for the "similar tool" warning, and you should now have your tool assembly with holder. You can now delete the tool without holder.

If I try to renumber a tool and save that back to my tool library it will corrupt my library in X7. Also if i write a program and try to go back and change the tool number it will post the old tool number. I have to delete the operation and program the tool path with the new number. I was told this problem should be fixed with the MU1 update.
