Haas comments to long for control

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Does any body have this problem and know how to fix it. When we load our programs into the control we get a missing " ) " error because the comment is to long and the control moves what is remaining to a new line leaving the starting line with out an " ) " at the end of the line causing the error. Is there a way to limit the number of characters per line in the post?

Hi Brian,

If you enter a comment somewhere in the Mastercam Interface, those comments get truncated automatically by MP during posting. Any time this happens you will get a posting error, just informing you that a comment was modified before it was output.

In addition to those comments (from Mastercam), our posts will generate comment strings from other data, like File Names and Paths, or Tool information comments. Since these strings are built by the post, you have to use logic in the post to evaluate the string length and either Truncate the string or Shorten the string. We allow you to do either one by setting a switch inside the post.

Hi I spend long time with development of this postprocessor in my machine shop.

We have 3 - 4 axis postprocessor for VF1, VF2, VF3, VF4

full 5 axis VF3 TR210

full 5 axis VF3 TR160

In my post I customize all cycles and comments

On the start output look like this :

Machine never alarm and you have informations about

Tool Name, Diameter, H value, D Value etc-

Working like a dream !!!

Try customize your post to get output like this :

No alarm at all and you will have all data needed.

If not get in touch will try help you.

Have hope that will help.

For what it's worth, if you download a copy of the Generic Haas 4X Mill Post, from the Tech Exchange on Mastercam.com, there is logic that was added for 'Comment Processing'. There is a switch at the top of the Post, where you can choose to "Shorten" or "Truncate" long comments. The Shorten feature works really nicely, as it "chops out" the middle of the NC Filename, and replaces it with an Ellipsis (...).
