Screw counterbore tools

Hey Guys,

I use to use Walter brand indexable screw counterbore tools 1/4-3/4 SHCS.

 

It looks like they don't make them anymore.

 

What tools do you use?

 

I was thinking of using Ingersoll Quad drills.

Yep, CB tools are for the bridgeport

I'm with Rstewart, cb tools belong on the bridgeport. I helix bore mine usually.

We use these and would be "shocked" to find milling is faster than these drills.

We helix or circle mill everything here. However, or volumes are relatively low.

Drilling is always faster way of removing material, I would rather drill a 2.0 Diameter hole 8" deep then helical mill it, I'm surprised too.

 

In my apprenticeship I use to work of DME the company that supplies mold components I was able to counter bore for the heads of pins, bushings and screw counter bores in seconds with consistent sizes and flat bottoms.

 

I'm finding myself needing them more and more, maybe I'll contact the place I use to work to see if they are still using them.

K tool has some, also vermont.

Kennametal has a nice line of flat bottom coolant thru drills. We only use smaller SHCS so I'm not sure how large they get.

I used a "Chip break Cycle" with Air and it would knock out C'bores in less then 10 seconds each

1/4 " to 5/8 " C'bores in P-20 & 420 SS (Mold Bases)

We use Komet counterbore tools. Small screw c'bores we c'mill.
