Fanuc Flash Drive

  Hello Ya'll

 I looked all over here for this and nothing I understand,  so here is my question.

   I have a Doosan HMC with a Fanuc 18i-MB control. Machine has pretty nice feeds and speeds for some High Speed machining, only just don't have the memory.

   We use an 8 GB flash drive to load programs. Is it possible to run a larger program from the flash drive?

Yes,

 

You have two ways to do it.

You can use the DNC option or you can simply use a small program in main memory that is an M198 Pxxxx sub call to the program on the root of the card.

When using the M198 Pxxxx method, the file name on the card must be the Oxxxx format without extension.

Yes you can, M198 will work.

 

You'll probably have to change your communication channel. I think we had to change it to 5 here.

    I'm kinda dumb with this I'm a Nitindo user.

  Can you please do a quick example of the M198 Pxxxx method for me please.  Our post puts out like O1000. Does the Pxxxx have to match the O1000 program?

@ Richard, there's a few parameters you'll need to change to run off the card.

#138.7 = 1

#3404.2 = 1

#6030 = 198

 

That should do it.

This is an awesome technique.  That way you can have macro stuff in the machine and the long code on the card.

just remember to have no extension on the M198 file

save it on the card as O1234

to save with no extension, save as "O1234" use the quotations and it wont save the file extension
