Problem importing IGES files

ok...I tried deleting all of the wireframe.     I selected my plate,  create/curve on all edges.    As soon as it starts to crunch it crash's.

I went back and it did the same thing in X7 another crash.

The plate was created in UG....I usually always get X_T files and they work great.   Not sure why I am having trouble with simple surfaces.

I only have a Mill 1 license if that makes a difference.

I am currently running X8 Mill level 1 with all of the current patch's.  But I have had this same issue with importing IGS files since X1, which makes me think it has to be something in my setting that I have messed up and it keeps migrating into newer versions.

To be clear it isn't just this plate I am having issues with, it is every IGS file I try to import.

Every other software that we have is able to import these exact same files without issue but "my" seat of Mastercam blows it up.

I really appreciate the help!

Thanks

Just thinking out loud here but something you can do to eliminate a "settings" question.....

Shut down Mastercam, go into your My MCAMX8 / Config folder and rename the MCAMX.CONFIG file to MCAMX.CONFIG.OLD

The restart Mastercam, the system will create a new "stock" config file, then see if you can open your file clean.....

If it comes in clean, there may well be something in your config that is not helping the issue

Ok...at least I have a work around.

Thank you.

LOL, I don't know that I'd call that a work around. Something in your config isn't right.  That's almost certainly a user error IMNSHO   :)

Opened up clean for me...I got a bunch of zero line length and untrimmed surf errors...so I assume there are a bunch of tiny surfs in there that with my tolerance setting does not make them, instead the result is zero...but with tight tolerances it would make small surfaces....but the surfaces are so small that even with the tight tolerance setting you are using, the spline cannot be created because it is too small...so it crashes...

I am using default settings for X8....

If I had to guess where the problem is I would say it is the champher that cuts the holes on the outside tabs and the holes that break out through the part.

For fun I would create curves on all edges and just unselect those splines....the ones that bisect the chanpher and the ones that that same hole breaks into the larger ones going through the part using your original config and see what happens.
