Cut Tap for 7075 Aluminum

Curious as to what anyone is using for cut taps in 7075 aluminum. It seems some/most of the "aluminum specific" taps are a little too dinky for this particular alloy. So, what are you using?

On aluminum I use OSG high spiral flute taps. That keeps the chips coming out instead of pushed forward as in a spiral point tap.

As the taps get smaller I use form taps. Never a issue with those. But I use a tapping fluid on the smaller form taps. It keeps any build up on the form tap to a minumim.

I use OSG spiral point taps in 7075-T7 Aluminum all the time.

What kind of coolant and concentration do you run? Are you running in a rigid holder?
