Heid and Siemens... they would be dead if it were not for European provinçalism .

Really?

I dare you to mention a control in the market more powerful and flexible than Sinumerik 840Dsl. Won´t say for Heid, but Sinumerik can´t be beaten for certain applications. There´s a reason they´re around, and that explains that 5%. Not everyone needs them, but many included in that figure wouldn´t have the business and niche they have without Sinumerik technology backing them up.

Edit:

I was watching all this conversation full of uninformed statements (Fanuc inferiority for example) and took for granted you were serious. Just noticed the smiley. Sorry.

Never said they were not more powerful than FANUC. We all know I'd be mis-informed or worse if I said that. That's not what I said though. I said they would be dead if not for European provincialism. I say that because there's not enough of that market segment in the world (excluding Europeans) to sustain them both. With Europe in play, their existence is assured. Probably for the better. Between them and Mitsubishi, it keeps FANUC somewhat honest.
