A scallop path that avoids flat areas.

 

Just curious if any one else has thought of it benefits

Doesn't the HST scallop toolpath with angle settings give you what you want?

Under steep/shallow set the "From" 0 angle to .5 Degrees

 

You can also avoid straight walls by setting the "To" 90 angle to 89.5 degrees

Don't you mean from .5 degrees to 90  (or 89.5 to avoid vertical walls) degrees? What you suggested would cut pretty much ONLY flat areas, no? I might be thinking of it backwards. Anyway, we're using the same concept.

I guess you could have faced all the flat areas with a square endmill and your surfacing the 3d stuff...

I used quotes because I was trying to say, change the "From" field box to .5 to avoid flat surfs... because it defaults at 0
