Does anyone know what this error means? (opti/area rough)

I was trying to create a surface area rough operation and kept getting this error.  I tried to change it to opti and got the same error. Any ideas?

I get this error when I have my tool containment set to "contact point" and "Center", but in a Scallop toolpath

I've looked in to some of the typical(?) causes of this error and so far nothing is catching my eye.  I can't figure out why the path wont generate.

There is a list of things that could be. Check your steep/shallow settings and your clearance plane height. Those seem to be the most common ones I see.

I had this problem as well. I was using a high-feed cutter with custom tool shape. My DOC is only 1.2mm and the "radius" is 3mm. It didn't like that so the cutting portion of the cutter had to be changed to at least 5mm to get it to work.

This seemed to be the problem.  I have a button mill defined and the max DOC is .07 but the radius on the cutter is .271.  I made the length of cut .75 and the path generated just fine.

I had the cutter defined that way so I could see if it'd hit the shank in verify, but oh well. Glad that helped you out!

You don't define those High feed mills with a custom profile. You define them as a bull.

Yes there will be a slight excess of stock in areas and the stock model won't be exact, but I never had a problem with it....

 

If you look on the vendors page it will tell you the program radius for your particular tool....
